How much will an AI FAQ bot cost with prompt caching?

Before committing to a model, most support teams with a stable FAQ want to estimate an AI FAQ bot's cost with and without prompt caching. This page does exactly that with an interactive calculator, so instead of guessing you get a concrete monthly cost grounded in today's provider prices.

Why this isn't trivial

The part people underestimate: an FAQ bot sends the same large knowledge context on every request, which is exactly what prompt caching discounts. In practice the biggest savings come from caching the shared FAQ/system context so repeated input is billed at the cached rate, so it is worth modelling before you commit.

How it's calculated

We estimate this by costing the bot normally, then applying the cached-input rate to the repeated context to show the saving. Every figure uses the current provider prices baked into the site (reviewed daily), and you can override any input to match your own assumptions.

Frequently asked questions

When does prompt caching pay off?+

When a large, identical context is reused across many requests — classic for FAQ bots.

How big is the discount?+

Cached input is typically a fraction of the normal input rate; the calculator shows your case.

Are these prices up to date?+

Yes. The model prices behind this calculator are refreshed and reviewed daily, so your estimate reflects current provider rates rather than a stale snapshot.
