How this is calculated
This is the generic version of the industry savings tools. Manual cost = tasks × (minutes per task ÷ 60) × blended hourly rate. AI-assisted cost = tasks × (verification minutes ÷ 60) × rate + model spend per task (input + output tokens × live per-token rates). Net savings = manual − AI-assisted, and we express ROI and payback against the AI cost.
The design is deliberately honest: responsible adoption keeps a human in the loop, so the saving is the drop from full manual time to a shorter verification time plus model spend — not a fantasy of zero human cost.
Is this a good result? What to do next
Automation is worth it when the task is high-volume, repetitive and rules-based, and when verification time is much smaller than today's manual time. If the two are close, AI isn't removing enough of the work. Model spend per task is usually cents; the labour delta is what makes or breaks the case.
